This article examines how Deleuze’s works on cinema can apply to the notion of architectural and urban ambiances. Two concepts are explored. The first contributes to the definition of the notion of ambiances itself, confronting it with new modes of perception offered by cinema. The second reconnects with the functional dimension of ambiances and reconsiders Deleuze’s ideas as a methodological means. Based on a series of video productions within an urbanism agency, we envision new videography practices geared towards the analysis of architectural and urban ambiances.
