Considering the current reconfiguration of frames of our urban experience as the effect of a political technology, this article aims to show how the notion of ambiance permits to query from a new angle the power relations. If the planning of the living environments has always been a political issue, we want to show that taking into account their sensory dimension turns their ambiantal design into a medium through which power relations can be deployed. The current smoothing of urban ambiances calls for a political reading which gives an understanding of the relationship between aesthetics and action.
